For a lot of us, COVID-19 didn’t feel real until the NBA canceled their season. It was a moment that clicked for fans across the country and especially in Chicago where sports are so central to the city’s identity.
As Chicago braced for the impact of COVID-19, we developed a campaign to unite the city and motivate residents to take Mayor Lightfoot’s Stay at Home Order seriously.
With the help of Chicago’s professional sports teams, we launched We Are Not Playing.

We announced the new Stay at Home measures in an empty Soldier Field with Mayor Lightfoot and some help from local players.
We challenged Chicagoans staying at home to place their jerseys in their windows to show
they were staying put and helping save lives. The Chicago Cubs and other teams joined in.
We worked with players to create social posts that encouraged Chicagoans to stay home to save lives.
